Noise survey results

Here are the results of our noise survey, the quietest place is outside Mr Owen's office. The hall and the playground are the loudest places during lunch time.

We did it again!

St Bernadette's class have done it again- everyone was awarded a merit on Friday as the class noise meter went down to level one!

Sunday 11 May 2014

Well done St Bernadette's!

I mentioned previously in the Improving the Environment post that if the class manage to get our noise meter down to a level one (no noise at all) then the whole class will receive a merit; congratulations- this was achieved on Friday! Let's see how many more times we can do it this week.

Writing comments

When writing a comment on our blog please make sure you are using good written English. Please do not use lots of exclamation marks (one is plenty) or words with the same letter repeated, if you wish to show that you really like something you could make that word stand out by using capital letters.

Thank you!

Improving the Environment

Today we began our new Geography topic- Improving the Environment.

We started off by conducting a survey of some of the classes in our school, asking them about noise pollution in the school. Children have also chosen locations and different times of the day to rate the level of noise on a scale of 1-5 (1 the quietest and 5 the loudest). We will share the results with you after we have collected enough data.

We are also going to have a noise meter in our classroom to measure the level of noise when we are working. If we get the noise level down to 1 we all get a merit!

Have a look at this video if you would like to learn more about noise pollution.

Belonging

We are starting our new Literacy book this week, it's a picture book by the Australian author Jeannie Baker.

The story is told in pictures showing the view from a girl's bedroom window through the years. Jeannie uses recycled materials to make her interesting and detailed pictures.

We will be making our own versions of the window-view pictures in class- photos to follow.

Don't forget we will be needing materials in order to make our own pictures so please raid your recycling box!
